Audit

With reference to the CRC energy efficiency scheme, selected enterprises will be asked to measure and report their total organisational energy use and carbon footprint, with a view to provide a total energy emissions reduction through a stick and carrot approach.

The total organisational energy footprint will be made of elements such as raw materials extraction, raw material transportation, processing and manufacture, packaging, and distribution.

All commercial organisations that have their energy billed using half hourly metering or have spent £500,000 per annum will be required to measure their total energy usage.

Carbon3IT Ltd only deal with IT related Energy use and resulting carbon emissions, probably the most difficult area to measure as each IT estate has been developed for the host company.

This makes it very difficult for some energy monitoring and measurement companies to apply their standard tools.

Carbon3IT Ltd operates a triple audit technique:

Firstly, we ascertain what the manufacturers “rated” power consumption is for each device.

Secondly, we measure the actual energy consumed over a defined period of time using a smart socket device.

Thirdly, and depending on the size of your organisation we can install an energy monitoring “agent” on some or all of your organisations computing equipment.

Our equipment suppliers have advised that there can be a variance of up to 15% of the rated power against actual power and this could lead to a mis-reporting of IT energy consumption in your CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme return, an expensive variance.

We can also offer a full IT asset audit in conjunction with the Energy Efficiency audit.
