why green it?

CRC

The CRC EES has been changed by the Coalition Government and is now a pure carbon tax.

Details on exact changes have yet to be published, however in summary, commercial organisations that use half hourly electric metering or whose energy costs are in excess of £500,000 per annum will be required to measure their energy use for each component of their organisation, for instance the energy used in the production of an item, the energy used to provide support functions (offices/admin), transport and raw material extraction.

IT/ICT is probably used in all areas of your organisation and its energy costs will probably be hidden and not allocated to a particular department, this can make it difficult to report.

It is now imperative for organisations to ascertain exactly what their energy use over the reporting period as you will be charged £12 per tonne of carbon emitted.

Carbon3IT Ltd has a number of products that can measure your IT energy use and thus determine your IT carbon footprint.
